Senior Year Experience
Posted on: 21 December 2021 BY: AMAMBARES
Throughout the years, I have listened to friends and people reflect back on their senior year college experiences. They told me that senior is considered to be easy and more flexible than college sophomore and junior years.
Well, I do not think so!!! My experience is the opposite. Being a senior student, this semester has been really challenging. Academically, I find that the classes I take this fall semester are difficult and they are all mostly upper-level classes. I really try so hard this semester and I did not have much time for social life. I use my time mostly for assignments, homework, and readings. The other times I volunteer at the university food pantry for one hour when I am free. The volunteer is part of the USTL program, which means I have to do some twenty hours of community service per semester. I also visited the counselor many times this semester.
Also, I am a media chairman at the TNTech Rotaract Club here at my university. I and my club officers work together and organize activities for the club. The activities include community services outreach, helping with food pantry donations, professional development, and so on. As a media chairman, my work is mostly focused on things that are related to social media, photography, and emails. But I also cover other duties like preparing meeting PowerPoints and flyers. I am really glad I get to be part of this club and it is so amazing to also have mentors from previous officers that are willing to guide me as a chairman. I think it is important to get involved with campus activities like this because this will serve as a good experience on my resume.
In addition, I am so thankful that my university has all kinds of services that I needed, especially counseling services and the services they provide at the library for students who face challenges with their classes. I am grateful and thankful for myself for putting in a lot of effort and trying hard this semester. I am thankful to my professors and peers who helped me this semester. The motivational and inspiring words I got from each one of these people, woke me up and just make me try harder and work through the tough times I have this semester.
